THE VINEYARD

Amyntaio Vineyard

In the northwest corner of the Greek map, in the heart of the Prefecture of Florina, lies a unique vineyard. Known as the Vineyard of the Four Lakes, it is surrounded by the lakes Zazari, Heimaditita, Petron, and Vegoritita. This vineyard is the focal point of the Amyntaio Protected Designation of Origin Zone.

Varieties in the Amyntaio zone

Αποτελεί τον ορεινότερο αμπελώνα της Ελλάδας και τον μεγαλύτερο αμπελώνα της Μακεδονίας. Η έκτασή του αγγίζει τα 11.500 στρέμματα βάση των στοιχείων του 2022. Κυρίαρχη ποικιλία είναι η ελληνική ποικιλία Ξινόμαυρο, που καλλιεργείται εκατοντάδες χρόνια τώρα σε ποσοστό 44,20% επί των καλλιεργούμενων αμπελώνων. Σημαντική θέση στον αμπελουργικό χάρτη του Αμυνταίου έχουν οι λευκές ποικιλίες Sauvignon Blanc (13.24%) ,Caradonnay (4,7%) , Ροδίτης (4,5%) , Μαλαγουζία (4,0%) , Malvazia Aromatica ( 2,0%), Ασύρτικο ( 3,4% ) , Gewurztraminer (2,3%) και σε ποσοστο μικροτερο από 1,0% οι ποικιλιες Λιμνιο, Βιδιανο, Vioner, Riesling, αλλά και οι ερυθρες νεοσύστατες Syrah (9.00%), Merlot (5,20%) και Cabernet Sauvignon (1.4%) και σε μικροτερα ποσοστα Tanat , Pino Nore , Cabernet Franc , Μαυροδαφνη και Νεγκοσκα.

Among the mountains of Macedonia and the four enchanting lakes, lies the vineyard of the Amyntaio Protected Designation of Origin Zone. The unique soil morphology in this area provides a significant advantage in shaping the microclimate, resulting in a temperature difference of up to 15 degrees Celsius between day and night during the summer months.

Amyntaio Vineyard

In the northwest corner of the Greek map, nestled in the heart of the Prefecture of Florina, lies a unique vineyard - the vineyard of the Four Lakes. Surrounded by the lakes Zazari, Heimaditita, Petron, and Vegoritita, this vineyard holds a special place as the centerpiece of the Protected Designation of Origin Amyntaio Zone. Since the 1970s, it has been distinguished by the dominant and unique variety Xinomavro (or popolka).

In the late 1990s, the first local wine, "White Dry Local Wine of Florina," was legislated. Then, in 2008, the Local Wine of Florina, encompassing white, rosé, and red varieties (dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet, semi-sparkling), was approved and later designated as Protected Geographical Indication Florina.

WINERY

Varieties in the Amyntaio zone

It stands as the most mountainous vineyard in Greece and the largest vineyard in Macedonia, covering an area of 11,500 hectares as of 2022. The predominant variety cultivated is the Greek Xinomavro, accounting for 44.20% of the vineyards. Additionally, white varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc (13.24%), Chardonnay (4.7%), Roditis (4.5%), Malagouzia (4.0%), Malvazia Aromatica (2.0%), Assyrtiko (3.4%), and Gewurztraminer (2.3%) hold significant positions in the viticultural landscape of Amyntaios. Other varieties include Limnio, Vidiano, Viognier, Riesling, as well as newly established reds like Syrah (9.00%), Merlot (5.20%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (1.4%). Smaller quantities of Tanat, Pino Noir, Cabernet Franc, Mavrodafni, and Negoska are also cultivated.

THE VINEYARDS OF VEGORITIS

Η οικογένεια Μπόσκου μέχρι το 2004 καλλιεργούσε τα 5 στρέμματα (0,5 εκτάρια) αμπέλι που κληρονόμησε από τους παππούδες, το 2022 έχει στην ιδιοκτησία της 150,00 στρέμματα (15,00 εκτάρια) και καλλιεργεί ενοικιασμένα άλλα 120,00 στρέμματα (12,00 εκτάρια).
